Vi Bell paints outdoors in the Irish countryside and in the quiet of her studio — but also in places a paintbrush rarely goes. She has worked alongside hospital patients and led a project with children through a national child and youth service. For her, these are not departures from the work. They sit at the centre of it, alongside anything that eventually finds its way into a collector’s hands.
Her studio practice centres on semi-abstract botanical work, rooted in research into regeneration — the way landscapes recover, rebuild, and find new form after loss. It’s work that holds its own presence, drawing the eye through scale and material as much as subject.
She is currently based in Ireland, with her practice increasingly extending into the UK.
